RalliSport Challenge: XBOX
“Simply stunning,” are the first words which come to
mind when experiencing first-hand this exciting new rally game.
If ever you haven’t played this game and you’re a true
rally fan… where have you been? Ok, so you may have recently
played this game on PC but it’s so much better on the XBOX
console.
Straight away a lovely splash screen displaying the Ralli Art
Lancer greets you. The anticipation builds as you try to get your
white racing knuckles to hit the “New Game” option.
But beware, once inside there’s no escape from the realism
that this game throws at you! You have a choice of 4 options in
front of you.
Career - Where all the real action takes place… and it’s
toll.
Single Race – When you want to drift away from it all.
Time Attack – See how you shape up on the 48 tracks.
Multiplayer – Where up to 4 players can slug it out.
So you think the controls for XBOX are too complex? Not in this
game they’re not. Just make sure you’re strapped in,
and hold on tightly as you’ll only be needing three different
buttons to navigate your car around the track. You’ll travel
through environments such as Rally, Hill Climbs, Rallycross and
even Ice racing! I certainly hope you like drifting!
In the more popular career mode you will have courses to finish
where you earn points to unlock new levels and newer cars to stay
competitive. I never thought I’d be driving a Nissan Skyline
around a rally circuit, that’s for sure! But make sure you
can handle these fast cars because skill is required to keep them
on the road.
Make sure you listen to your co-drivers instructions. I admit
that the scenery is nothing short of breath taking. Imagine this…
you’re driving through the woods, dirt and dust flicking
behind your Impreza, grass and weeds sway in the wind, occasional
birds fly past, sun gleaming in your eye’s… it seems
like a true rally racers’ heaven! Don’t snub this game
off thinking its like Colin McRae 3. Believe me, this game flattens
the heck out of Colin McRae 3!
If that just doesn’t do it for you then I don’t know
what will. Just keep in mind that whatever tunes you have loaded
to your XBOX you can infact listen to them while driving! I have
never had my head going to the beat before in a game, now I have!
I suggest having fast racy tunes like dance music, keeping you
on alert and feeling the need for speed. All in all you have to
own this game! It blew me away immediately.
